On the Equator

We are in Ecuador -- enjoying some special time with family and friends and celebrating my sister in-law's wedding.  Congratulations newly weds!

I will be gone for two weeks, and I promise to write if I can while away, internet and time allowing.  But will be back the last week in June if not before.  Happy summer for now!

At Home at Grand Central

From the moment we first started planning for their session, I was energized by the creative and adventurous spirit that seemed to emanate from the Strassel family.  They each radiate energy and enthusiasm so their choice of Grand Central Terminal – a bustling New York City icon – was perfect.

The Strassel's gorgeous portraits capture the warmth and classic feel of Grand Central while still depicting a touch of fantasy mixed with powerful real-life relationships and personalities.

Thank you for inviting me on this terrific adventure, Strassel family!

Life in motion

Children are deeply expressive and keep us on our toes.  The morning I spent with the Herzog’s several weeks ago was so full of joy and warmth – and those little guys were so animated.  Life is constantly in motion!

One of the greatest pleasures of my job is building lasting relationships with the families that invite me into their lives.  Thank you Herzogs!  It has been so much fun!

Celebrations in the community

This time of year is often marked by special occasions. Weddings, graduations, family celebrations, and events. This week I am lucky to be covering the Residents’ Graduation at The Brooklyn Hospital Center (www.tbh.org) right here in downtown Brooklyn. It is sure to be a festive afternoon with more than 80 graduates moving on from the program and heading on to new adventures.

Thursday night I will have the privilege of documenting The Brooklyn Hospital Center’s 25th Founders Ball too. What an anniversary!   Each year the Founders Ball brings hundreds of people together to support The Brooklyn Hospital Center and to recognize outstanding leaders within the hospital and in the community. The Silver Anniversary Founders Ball will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Stage 6 at Steiner Studios in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. It is sure to be a shining event!

Congrats to The Brooklyn Hospital Center for an action packed week full of important events. I am so pleased to be a part of it all! My passion is photographing children, but I can’t help but enjoy photographing “big kids” too!

Coming soon….photos from an awesome family shoot at Grand Central this weekend!

Have a wonderful day and an even better year ahead Mark, Marthita, & Guillermo....

...May all of your wildest dreams come true!

Challenging Mother Nature

It threatened all week to rain on this past Sunday morning but after a last minute phone consultation with the Witherwax family, we decided to head out – in sundresses and shorts – to challenge Mother Nature.

And boy was it worth it!  With all the running around and playing, it was downright warm.  As you can see, we had tons of fun with the playful, adventurous, and loving Witherwax family.  Thanks guys for a terrific session!

Celebrating Liza

This past weekend we were in Florida celebrating my stepsister Liza's high school graduation.  We flew in from Brooklyn and were joined by my sister from DC and a whole host of Semlers from New Jersey.

After Saturday night's energetic festivities culminating at a wild greek restaurant, we rolled ourselves out of bed for some relaxed Sunday fun -- a stroll through a water treatment facility turned wetland wildlife refuge.  A beautiful spot with tons of birds and wildlife.

What a way to enjoy Florida beyond the beaches!

Congratulations on your graduation, Liza, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY too.
